Downloading Day Shift starring Jaime Foxx

Jamie Foxx stars as Dave Franco and Jamie Foxx is the star of "Day Shift", a new movie about vampire hunting. The movie is about a blue collar working dad who wants to provide for his child's happiness. But, his mundane job at the pool in San Fernando Valley serves as a front for hunting and killing Vampires as part of an international Union of vampiric hunters.

The premise sounds exciting, but can J.J. Perry deliver on it?

The opening scene of the movie is a bonkers action sequence with Jamie Foxx shotgun blasting the hell out of an old lady who turns out to be a vampire. This leads to a hilarious fight between the two of their characters that is a total blast. I felt that the movie had a lot of fun using this type of ragdoll physicality in its action sequences, making them pop in ways that other Netflix action movies and blockbusters don't.

Day Shift has a lot of fun and is not too serious. I was able to enjoy it the entire way. I didn't have to think to much, it had great action that was original and I felt like I was enjoying watching it. It had good humor and I found myself laughing out loud a fair bit. It did draw inspiration from some brilliant vampire films, such as Blade and Lost Boys. These films are also some my favorites. The acting was solid, the directing was brilliant and the cinematography quite impressive. Day Shift will satisfy those who are looking for something that is entertaining but not too serious. It's lots of fun.

Day Shift is a mixed movie. While there's a lot fun action and some interesting characters (the brothers, Seth) there's also a terrible villain and a lot more mediocre characters. It felt like some scenes had been left out. Bud's neighbor acts almost like they're close friends, even though Bud only had three minutes of screen time prior to the final scene. It seems that this helps the stronger characters shine (Day Shift movie review) more. Overall, it's an enjoyable movie, but it could have been better.

Snoop Dogg was almost forgotten about. He's amazing in Day Shift. It's worth the entire movie to watch him. His character is funny, and he can deliver some amazing lines. But more than that, he's just so natural in the role. He's natural at the role.
